Happy birthday to me!

I turned 38 last week and I spent the weekend celebrating with the people I love. It’s my first time celebrating since COVID + becoming somebody’s mama. Needless to say, it was time to celebrate me!!!!!

There are a lot of things they prepare you for when having a kid, the lack of sleep, breastfeeding, defiant toddlers, a non-existent social life, etc. But one thing I don’t think we talk about enough is how everything about WHO you are changes.

In the midst of changing your priorities to take care of another human, moms go through a period of not even knowing who tf we are anymore. For the past 2 years I’ve been trying to figure out simple things like what kind of clothes I like now, purses, perfume, hair styles, shoes? Who is mama DeeDee when Cairo isn’t around? What does she like to do? Who does she want to do it with? 🤔

I’ve also had Saturn in my 1st house the past 3 years rebranding me into a badder bitch inside and out 😂 but I know I can’t be the only one that goes through this. Lol

It’s definitely been a journey, but I’ve never been one to back down from a challenge or hard work. I have Saturn on my side and he’s gonna make sure I get it right even if he takes the Joe Jackson approach. 😩😂

This whole experience has helped me to cultivate a new life that is full of love, patience and compassion. You know… the good stuff! ✨🤍

Safe relationships with emotionally mature people + a happy kid have been my rewards. ❤️

I love it here and it’s only going to get better! 😆

It’s crazy to think 10years have passed. I associate Scoob’s death with the beginning of my spiritual journey. It was the straw that broke the camels back at the time. It shattered me into a million pieces and the journey to putting myself back together has been the greatest gift a friend could ever give.

I’ve used what I learned from this season in my life over and over again, overcoming shit that should have taken me out. I am grateful I got to experience Curtis in this lifetime because his life changed mine and I can only hope I’ll have the same impact on the people I love when my time comes. I noticed awhile back that I could “feel” when the energy shifts from season to season, astrologically. Every season has a theme and a lesson to go along with it. This cancer season dealt with all things MAMA for me.

I took an inner child healing meditation class with @dr.grant_ that of course brought up some trauma from my childhood. After this class I talked to my mom and she randomly brought up the same event and told me more of the story. It was a piece of information that shifted the narrative from my mom being a victim to being a bad mutha (shut yo mouf). And somehow that’s all it took to release it.

I came from that! 💪🏾

Cairo came from that! 💪🏾💪🏾

Parents, talk to your grown kids like adults so they can release trauma and free their inner child! ❤️

The following week I had an Akashic meditation class, again with @dr.grant_ 🤗and my message was to stay grounded so I could “hear” my body. That’s gonna go over a few heads but anyway… FOLLOW Dr. Grant SHE’S THE TRUTH + my ancestors adore her!

This week I got a birth chart reading from an astrologer I look up to @thelabcoatastrologer. He’s been telling me since January that I’ve got diamonds to share and I should be writing a book. I can’t make no promises about a book, but I can start by writing about these seasons. Book him for a chart reading!!
